Creating Positive Change in June

Ahhhhhhh, June,

It's midway through a month filled with very few holidays but ones that are very special days of remembrance and new beginnings.  This month we honor D-day, Pride, Juneteenth, Graduations, Father's Day and the Summer Solstice; the longest day of the year.  I love that the name June comes from the latin word for youth, which is related to rejuvenation; a practice near and dear to my heart.  Also
dear to my heart, my granddaughter Clara June turns one today!

So my friends, June is a month of remembrance and new beginnings.  This year, all around the world, the streets have been filled with people doing just that; remembering the past and putting their feet to the street to create a more just new beginning.  I want to be clear; Black Lives Matter. Each one of us can do something to create positive change now. I am not one to march in the streets, but I believe that positive change takes more than words, so I am working with local underprivileged classrooms. These students live in mainly below poverty communities. We are working to help them read more and write more this summer.  We have some donations from our partners like Blackwing Pencils and are preparing kits and activities to help these young people express themselves.

Children are the future, my granddaughter has made me act more than I ever have before. I want to leave her a better today right now.

Here's to new beginnings!
