By the late 1960s, typewriters were no longer just office machines, they were becoming part of the look and personality of the modern home. Royal responded with a new generation of full-featured portable machines, and the Sabre was one of them.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe see many of these in Blue but rarely this elegant green.  This is one of those colors that can change dramatically depending on the light and you can see that in the photos.  So which is ther true color?  All of them!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAnd the styling...retro for us now, but this was a hopeful, visionary future-oriented design - like a typewriter fit for going to the moon!\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eBut the Sabre wasn't designed simply to look good.\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eRoyal packed it with features that were genuinely useful for serious writing, including \u003cstrong\u003eMagic Margin controls, Touch Control, and Magic Column Set\u003c\/strong\u003e. Contemporary Royal advertising listed it as a full-size portable with an \u003cstrong\u003e88-character keyboard.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3 dir=\"auto\" class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\"\u003eMade when things were made to last.\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThis is the kind of machine that reminds you that \"portable\" didn't necessarily mean flimsy.
