This open studio is held monthly at The Paper Seahorse, the third Saturday of the month. Right after the Tampa Bay Origami Meet Up in the morning.
Bring your own tabletop project and supplies OR watch her short opening demo and then explore that topic & medium for the session.
May 17th - Find inspiration in the Flower of the Year - The Pansy! Explore the myriad colors of the pansy... start traditional and then get more abstract as Lynda shares with you what inspires her to explore all you can do with watercolors and inspiration from a flower.
Watercolors, brushes and paper are supplied for use during the session or bring your own. Come relax and get playful as we create together in the friendly atmosphere of The Paper Seahorse atelier.
About Lynda
Lynda Fishbourne, aka Ladyfish Pirate, is an accomplished local Tampa artist and teacher. She has taught one of our most popular online classes, Watercolor Journaling. She has collaborated with the studio and TRAVELERS Company in several projects featuring Tampa Bay. We are thrilled to have her in the studio doing what she loves best, sharing her talents and inspiring others.
Artist Statement:
I have been an artist all my life. Crayola crayons and pencils were my favorite things when young.
I worked as a Designer and Creative Director in large and small ad agencies, corporations and design studios in NYC, Boston and Tampa.. I also had my own design business for 12 years, but I always kept a visual journal and did my own art in my free time.
Now, I work in acrylics, watercolor, collage and encaustic art full time. I also teach small group workshops in drawing, journaling, watercolors, meditation and yoga.
My work revolves around nature and the abstract, big Florida skies, portals, sacred circles and more. I have an affinity to Wabi-Sabi and appreciate old worn textures and the beauty of imperfection. Envelopes, handwriting and postage stamps often find their way into my work, as I keep a visual journal and enjoy handwritten letters.
