The Remington Rand Streamliner was introduced in February 1941, right at the end of the great American Art Deco/Streamline Moderne era. Its production run was remarkably short, ending in March 1942, when Remington's factories turned toward wartime production. Only about 21,200 Streamliners were made, making this a considerably more unusual find than the later Remington portables that borrowed the Streamliner name.

The Streamliner belongs to that brief period when industrial designers weren't content simply to make machines functional. They wanted them to look fast, modern and optimistic.
