All the Creative Workshops to Look Forward to in Winter 2020

It happened again: another year has arrived and it’s time to start it off right! This winter we’re offering a diverse line up off classes and workshops to help you start 2020 on the right foot. From goal setting and mindfulness to traditional Copperplate calligraphy and everything in between, there’s something for everyone to explore at our SoHo location classes. Create Your  Ideal Life: Goal-Setting and Productivity Systems with Analog Tools

Saturday, January 11 from 10:00 am to noon

In this class we’ll show you some of our favorite ways to get organized with the Traveler’s Notebook line of analog products. You’ll learn methods to incorporate your own favorite analog tools into a powerful, streamlined productivity system.

Mindful Drawing: The Art of Zentangle I

Sunday, January 19 from 10am to noon

Zentagle is a relaxing way to develop focus and a deeper sense of personal wellness through soothing, repetitive pattern making. No prior experience or knowledge is needed to create beautiful illustrations using zentangle.

Mindful Drawing: The Art of Zentangle II

Your zentangle journey continues! In this class, you will build upon knowledge gained in the Introduction to Zentangle class, exploring the Renaissance style of zentangle, which is inspired by many Renaissance masters.

SPECIAL EVENT: For the Love of Fountain Pens

Wednesday, January 22 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

This special meet-up is for lovers of all things fountain pens.  Admirers of all different experience levels can take away useful knowledge about manufacturers, cleaning, and pen types as well as other handy tips and tricks from this FREE event. Registration gets you a goody bag with paper samples and an entry into a fountain pen giveaway. 

Intro to Modern Calligraphy: Lowercase + Basics

Sunday, January 26 from 9:30am to 12:30pm          

This class is a perfect place for you to start if you’ve wanted to try out pointed pen calligraphy. From the absolute basics upward, you’ll learn how to practice this long-treasured art form – even if you’ve never so much as looked at a pointed pen. This modern class will have you developing your unique style in the art of beautiful writing in no time.

Modern Calligraphy Intermediate: Uppercase + Play

Sunday, January 26 from 1:30pm to 4:30pm           

Has your first class in the art of pointed pen calligraphy left you craving more? Want to grow your pointed pen skills in new and excited directions? Then look no further than this class, which will expand upon the fundamentals to bring all the artistic possibilities of pointed pen calligraphy straight to your fingertips to fully embrace your own style.

Book Binding: Create Your Own Notebook

Saturday, February 1 from 10am to noon

You’ll learn how to create and beautifully adorn a 12 page, 5x7” accordion book that’s perfect your recipes, photos, mementos, or any other creative writing. All materials will be provided, and no stitching is required, making this the ideal starter class for anyone!

Intro to Copperplate Calligraphy

Sunday, February 2 from 10am to noon

Our intro to Copperplate calligraphy class will teach you not only the skills required to create your own beautiful Copperplate calligraphy, but also the history and cultural significance of this great art. By the end of the class, you’ll have all the tools you need to continue your exciting journey in the storied world of Copperplate calligraphy as well as the skills and motivation to create more beautiful writing.

Introduction to Journaling

If you’ve ever wanted to get into journaling but haven’t been quite sure where to start, this is the class for you. In this hands-on class, we’ll go over different journaling styles and techniques to help you slow down and relieve stress while boosting your own self-confidence and clearing your mind. You’ll also receive a journaling kit to help you continue your journaling at home.

The best way to say I love you is with an expression of your own creativity and effort: a handmade Valentine’s Day card. We’ll give you all vintage and modern materials you need to bring to life as many love notes as your heart desires.

Intro to Brush Pen Calligraphy

Sunday, February 9 from 10am to 12:30pm

Want to create beautiful calligraphy but aren’t quite ready to deal with all the dipping inks and nibs of traditional pointed pen calligraphy? Then brush calligraphy is the perfect way to learn all the fundamental skills and techniques of pointed pen calligraphy in a completely stress free environment. You’ll learn how to turn basic strokes into beautiful letters and words that can unlock your creativity when writing.

Unlocking the Power of Essential Oils  

Sunday, February 23 from 10am to noon

Often times our biggest limiting factor when it comes to actualizing our dreams and goals is our own negative mindset. In this workshop you’ll learn effective strategies to remove your self-imposed limitations by addressing negative self-talk and practicing positive affirmations. You’ll also learn about the benefits of essential oils for emotional support and creating your own specialized blend of essential oils to address your unique personal and emotional needs.
